The Anaheim Ducks have traded Brandon Montour to the Buffalo Sabres

The Ducks will get the Sabres’ first-round pick (from either San Jose or St. Louis’) and defenseman Brendan Guhle in exchange for Brandon Montour. Montour is signed through the 2019-20 season at just under $3.4 million cap hit and then he will be a restricted free agent. The 24-year-old blueliner has five goals and 25 points in 62 games, logging 22:40 of average ice time per game.

It’s a solid addition to Buffalo’s back end for what has a chance to be a late first round pick and a young blueliner who hasn’t been able to stick on their roster. Anaheim will be receiving San Jose’s first round pick but hold an option to receive St. Louis’ if it finishes between picks 20 and 31.

I really like  Montour as a player. when you add him to a group that features Rasmus Dahlin  and Rasmus Ristolainen the Buffalo Sabres continue to do good things for the future.
