Tampa Bay Lightning advance to Stanley Cup Final

The Tampa Bay Lightning  have advanced to the 2015 Stanley Cup Final !   This young, highly skilled, Lightning team, is now 9-0 in these playoffs when they score first. Alex Killorn provided that all-important first goal, early in the final frame, with backhand from the slot, that beat Henrik Lundqvist five-hole.   Ben Bishop made 21 saves in a shutout performance. With this impressive effort, Bishop now improves to 7-1 in games after a loss these playoffs.

Henrik Lundqvist made 23 saves for the Rangers, who entered 7-0 in Game 7 at home but were denied a return trip to the Cup Final. Lundqvist had won six consecutive Game 7s, an NHL record. “The King”, played well enough to keep that record alive. However, this time around his offense did not supply any support.

Ondrej Palat provided the insurance goal, Tampa Bay’s top-six forwards have stole a lot of the headlines these playoffs, and they come up big again, in the biggest moment of their lives.

One area of  Tampa Bay’s game that has been overlooked is: Their defense. Let’s face it this group was dominant coming into “The Greatest Arena on Earth,”  Madison Square Garden. Tampa Bay won three games on the road including two shutouts in this series.

Credit has to be given to the management of this organization, for understanding the areas of improvement  this franchise needed to go through to get back to this plateau since winning the Stanley Cup in 2004.

Congratulations, to the Tampa Bay Lightning, on advancing to the Stanley Cup Final !
