The Ottawa Senators have signed Thomas Chabot to an eight-year, $64 million contract extension.
After the amount of talent, the Senators have had to trade away or risk losing as free agents over the last couple of seasons, being able to get an emerging star to commit long-term to Ottawa is huge. Chabot broke out last season with 14 goals and 55 points in 70 contests. He only has 134 NHL games on his resume and his 2018-19 campaign was a huge jump for him, so Ottawa is taking a risk here. However, given that he’s just 22-years-old, this deal could work out extremely well for Ottawa.
