Semyon Varlamov done for the season

Semyon Varlamov (lower body) is expected to be out of the rest of the season.

Varlamov was headed for the easy win last night when Chicago’s Tomas Jurco crashed into him, knocking him out of the game. Look for Jonathan Bernier to carry the load for the rest of the season and try and get the Avalanche into the playoffs with four games remaining. It’s a double whammy with news coming out that Erik Johnson will also miss the next six-to-eight weeks with his own injury.

St. Louis is tied, with Colorado at 92 points for the Last play spot the west. St. Louis has a game in hand, and currently holds the position if the playoffs started today.

So, News of these injuries could not have come at a worse time for the Avalanche.
