Welcome back, Hockey fans!

The 2018-19 season has comeback in full swing this past weekend, and we are going to get started with the Chicago Blackhawks going against the Columbus Blue Jackets in Columbus.

Tonight at the Nationwide Arena, new faces will play for the Blackhawks as they compete for a roster spot. It is all about the youth movement as Victor Ejdsell, Artem Anisimov, and Dylan Sikura will be the top line, John Hayden, Marcus Kruger, and Andreas Martinsen will be the second line. Marcus Kruger was traded back to the Blackhawks from the Arizona Coyotes as the Coyotes required Marian Hossa‘s contract, forward Vinnie Hinostroza, and defenseman Jordan Oesterle during this past offseason.

The third line for tonight’s matchup is Alexandre Fortin on the left wing with Philipp Kurashev centering and Matthew Highmore on the right wing. And, the fourth line consists of Nathan Noel on the left wing with Henrik Samuelsson centering, and Dominik Kahun on the right wing. Dominik Kahun is a Blackhawks prospect from Germany and played for Team Germany at the Winter Olympics in Peyongchang, South Korea, and also for the Men’s World Championship in Denmark this past May. Also, veteran goaltender Cam Ward is the starting goaltender, with Colin Delia as the backup.

Sniping over to the Columbus Blue Jackets, it is also about all new faces and competing for a roster spot. Some superstars on the Blue Jackets are playing tonight as Nick Foligno is the left wing, and Cam Atkinson as the right wing while prospect Alexander Wennberg is centering the top line. The second line is something to see as first rounder Liam Foudy is centering Boone Jenner, and Josh Anderson. Liam Foudy was selected 18th overall in the NHL Draft this past summer. The third line consists Riley Nash centering Zac Dalpe, and Eric Robinson. The fourth line is consisted of Kevin Stenlund centering Lukas Sedlak, and Kole Sherwood. While J-F Berube is the starting goaltender for tonight’s preseason game, and Joseph Raaymakers is the backup.

Players to Watch

For the Chicago Blackhawks, all eyes are on defensemen Henri Jokiharju, Adam Boqvist, Blake Hilman, and forwards Dylan Sikura, Alexandre Fortin, Victor Ejdsell, and Matthew Highmore. Also backup goaltender, Colin Delia. Henri Jokiharju was also selected as 27th overall at the NHL Draft in the summer of 2017. Adam Boqvist is supposed to make a big splash as well when he was selected 8th overall at the NHL Draft during this past summer. Some say that Boqvist could be the future Erik Karlsson. Victor Ejdsell is a sight to see as he was traded last season from the Nashville Predators to the Blackhawks for forward Ryan Hartman at the trade deadline this past February. He also lit up the Rockford Icehogs during the AHL playoffs.

Gliding over to the Columbus Blue Jackets, Center Liam Foudy is suspected to make a big splash and make the official roster, along with defenseman Michael Prapavessis. Prapavessis shined during the Prospect Tournament and led the Blue Jackets to victory at the tournament. He was also a free agent during this past summer before Columbus signed him to an entry level contract.
