The Bruins and Hurricanes were originally supposed to play their series opener on Tuesday night, but the contest was pushed back because Tampa Bay and Columbus went to quintuple overtime. Bergeron scored the game winner 1:13 into the second overtime period. He also picked up an assist on a goal by David Pastrnak during the first frame. Pastrnak had an assist in the match, while Brad Marchand contributed two helpers. The top line of the Bruins was quiet during the round robin, but they certainly elevated their play when the games mattered. Charlie Coyle and David Krejci had the other markers in the contest for Boston. The Bruins have a 1-0 series lead going into Game 2 on Thursday night.
