Dmitry Kulikov faces discipline for hit on Tyler Seguin

Florida Panthers defenseman Dmitry Kulikov has been offered an in-person hearing for his hit on Dallas Stars forward Tyler Seguin Friday night. Kulikov was assessed a five minute major and a game misconduct for clipping on the play. The Dallas Stars have placed their superstar, Seguin on IR with a lower-body injury. Seguin, is currently ranked third in the entire National Hockey League with 59 points and fourth in total goals, 29. It goes without saying, losing one of the league’s best players is rough. Especially, when the Dallas Stars are just three points out of a playoff spot.

“It’s a dirty shot. It’s just something that ends up taking your best player out of the game,” said Stars coach Lindy Ruff postgame. “Not only out of the game, it is taking him out of the lineup for a little while for us.

With the in- person hearing, Dmitry Kulikov will likely be suspended for more than five-games. deservedly so. If you ask me. I know this is not the youngsters style of game. Dmitry Kulikov has never been suspended.  In fact, many teams were said to have interest in heDmitry Kulikov for his offense on trade deadline day. We will see how the suspension affects that outcome.

According to Mike Heika of The Dallas Morning News, Seguin suffered a knee injury and could miss 2-4 weeks.

Dallas Stars have recalled American Hockey League standout, Brett Richie to try and replace some of Tyler Seguin’s offense.

The Dallas Stars organization is not feeling any love on this Valentine’s Day.

If the Dallas Stars are able to overcome this adversity and still make the playoffs. I would not want to be the opponent forced to face them.

At the beginning of the season, I said the Dallas Stars would be one of the greatest surprises in the National Hockey League. It hasn’t quite worked out for them the same way as it has for the Nashville Predators or New York Islanders.

However, maybe with a guy that rely on to produce close to 36% in their offense out of the lineup, Dallas will come together as a team?
