Ovechkin wins another Maurice Richard Trophy

Alex Ovechkin has won the Maurice “Rocket” Richard Trophy after scoring 51 goals in 81 games this season.

This marks the eighth time that Ovechkin has won the trophy in his career, including the sixth time in the last seven seasons. No other player has won the trophy more than twice since its inception.

I was hoping Leon Draisaitl of my Edmonton Oilers could have taken this award home.

Leon Draisaitl is the first Edmonton Oilers player to score 50 goals in a season since Jari Kurri (54) and Wayne Gretzky (62) did it in 1987.

Draisaitl is the 5th Oilers forward to score 50 and joins Wayne Gretzky (nine times), Jari Kurri (four times), Glenn Anderson (twice) and Mark Messier (once).

What a remarkable accomplishment for my boy Leon!

Alex Ovechkin, makes it look easy.
