Melnyk calls Crosby a ‘whiner beyond belief,’ wants season-long suspension

Eugene Melnyk says the NHL needs to throw the book at Sidney Crosby.

The Senators owner is livid at the Pittsburgh Penguins superstar and speaking on TSN 1200 this morning referred to Crosby as a “whiner”.

He said Crosby should be suspended for his slash on Marc Methot that will keep him out for several weeks. Crosby didn’t even get a penalty for the incident Thursday night.

“We all know who he is. The guy is just beyond belief,” said an upset Melnyk. “You do this kind of stuff, I don’t care who you are in the league, I don’t care if you’re the number one player in the league you need to sit out a long time for this kind of crap.”

Melnyk said he instructed the hockey operations department to contact the league about the incident.

The HockeyFanLand Insight:

It sounds like Pittsburgh Penguins captain Sidney Crosby will not be suspended for slashing Ottawa Senators defenceman Marc Methot in the first period of Thursday’s clash in Ottawa.

NHL Deputy Commissioner Bill Daly says the league will not look into the Crosby slash any further, according to TSN Hockey Insider Pierre LeBrun.

This just further proves superstars Indeed do receive special treatment!

It’s hard to disagree with Mr. Melnyk on this one.
