EA Sports announced that due to the ongoing Hamburg, NY police investigation of Patrick Kane, Kane will no longer appear on the cover of NHL 16.
“In light of the ongoing investigation surrounding Patrick Kane, he will no longer be a spokesperson for EA Sports NHL 16,” the Burnaby, British Columbia-based company said in a statement. “He will not appear on the EA Sports NHL 16 cover, nor participate in other EA Sports NHL 16 promotional activities.”
On August 6 the Buffalo News reported that Kane is the subject of a sexual assault investigation.
Hamburg Police Chief Gregory Wickett confirmed the ongoing investigation last week, adding that the investigation involves a woman in her 20’s.
No charges have been filed in connection with the alleged incident.
NHL 16 will be released on September 15.
