Dougie Hamilton is sidelined indefinitely

Hamilton has 10 goals and 42 points in 72 games this season. He sustained the injury during Saturday’s game against Florida. Reports suggest the injury may be a shoulder. This is bad news for a Boston Bruins team that has lost five straight games. Dougie Hamilton’s development as a young defenseman has been impressive to watch. Frankly, it makes me jealous as an Edmonton Oilers fan. Everybody knows, a defenseman like Hamilton is what Edmonton desperately needs.

Hamilton’s 42 points leads Bruins defensemen and is second on the team behind Patrice Bergeron’s 51.

The Bruins shuffled their defensive pairings at practice Tuesday, according to the Boston Globe. Adam McQuaid moved into the top pair with Zdeno Chara. Zach Trotman, recalled from Providence of the American Hockey League on Sunday, skated with Matt Bartkowski.

currently, the Boston Bruins sit just outside of the playoffs. the Ottawa Senators have taken over the wildcard spot with their extremely white-hot run of late, (9-1 in last 10 games). The loss of Hamilton could cost the Boston Bruins a playoff spot. The injury certainly took place at the worst time of the season… let’s face it at this time a year NHL clubs meet their best players in the lineup nightly, and producing regularly. the Bruins simply don’t have that right now.
