The wonder kid, Connor McDavid, just scored his first NHL goal!
The goal, scored on Kari Lehtonen of the Dallas Stars, was a tip-in at 12:18 of the second frame to tie the game at 2-2. There has been considerable pressure on McDavid to produce offensively right out of the gate, and he finally connected tonight in his third NHL game. McDavid is widely considered to be a generational player, the closest thing to Wayne Gretzky and Sidney Crosby in today’s game. Interestingly, those two superstars also scored their first goal in their third NHL game.
This could open the floodgates for McDavid. Whatever happens, though, I can’t wait to follow McDavid and his incredible skill set throughout his career.
This is a very proud moment for my Edmonton Oilers!
