Blues win Game 5, on cusp of Western title

With a 5-0 win over the San Jose Sharks Sunday afternoon, the St. Louis Blues can now wrap up a Western Conference title on Tuesday night in St. Louis.

Jaden Schwartz lead the way for the Blues netting a hat trick.


Schwartz got his 10th goal of the postseason during the second period to give the Blues a 2-0 lead and he scored two more in the third to put the game out of reach.

He finished the match with seven shots on target. Schwartz has registered two three-goal games in the playoffs and he is up to 16 points in 18 contests.


Vladimir Tarasenko also had an afternoon, with a goal and two assists for the Blues, who are 7-2 on the road and set their single-season record with 11 playoff wins.

Tarasenko extended his point streak to five straight games with the effort.

Tank scored on a penalty shot in Game 5 to give him seven goals in the playoffs.

Jordan Binnington made 21 saves for his first Stanley Cup Playoff shutout.

The San Jose Sharks will have to bring way more if they plan to stick around.
