Avalanche defenseman Tyson Barrie out 4-6 weeks with broken hand

The Colorado Avalanche will be without defenseman Tyson Barrie for four to six weeks as the blueliner requires surgery on his broken hand. Barrie suffered the injury in Saturday’s 6-2 victory over the Arizona Coyotes after blocking a shot.

Barrie has long been considered an elite fantasy defenseman putting between 40-50 points a season. However,  few would have expected Barrie to be leading all defensemen in points per game (0.83; 27 points in 34 games)   The Avalanche and fantasy hockey owners will be suffering while the 26-year-old is on the sidelines for the next month and a half.  You have to feel for a guy who was putting together a career year.
