Petr Mrazek terrific in first playoff start

Petr Mrazek

Petr Mrazek was sensational in his first career playoff start on Thursday night, making 44 saves on 46 shots to help the Wings snag Game 1 on the road from Tampa Bay.

Mrazek rewarded head coach Mike Babcock with his decision to give the 23-year-old the start over Jimmy Howard, who has been in net the past five years at post-season time. Mrazek went 16-9-2 with a 2.38 goals against average and .918 save percentage in the regular season. The young Czech certainly provided the spark in goal the Wings were looking for.

Pavel Datsyuk, provided both goals for the Red Wings for the to the 2-1 victory.

If you are the Tampa Bay Lightning, it sucks you lost the game. However, if you continue to play the same way throughout the seven- game – series. You should come out on top. Detroit will not win if you rely on goaltending alone.
